Destination of the Week – Ibiza 🇪🇸

Arundel Travel Ibiza

Things to do
The Hippy Market up in Es Cana has been a highlight in Ibiza since the early 1970’s. Catch a bus, taxi or ferry to Es Cana on the east side of the island. Just outside of town you’ll find a hillside covered with stalls selling all kinds of hippy-related goodies – everything from leather goods, handbags, jackets, belts, shoes, accessories, and everything in between. Of course, it cannot be a hippy market without the pipes and bongs, and tie-dyed shirts and trousers.

A perfect day out if you have a car is to take a trip to Cala d’hort. The small, beloved beach has a fantastic view of the mysterious island of Es Vedra just off shore. No need to take a picnic, there’s a brilliant resturant at the top of the cliff side, Es Boldado. Make the most of your day, as the evening draws in, snuggle up with a blanket and whilst you watch the most amazing sun set.

History lovers should head to the Dalt Vila, or the old part of Ibiza City, to view the Roman ruins, Ibiza Castle, and the famous city walls, which are classified as a National Monument. Stroll along the old city walks during the night when they are lit up to make an impressive scenery.

Escape the crowds, jump on a ferry and head to Formentera, beautiful secluded beaches, fantastic bike trails and quaint villages make this island an explorers delights. The seafood found in the surrounding waters is said to be the best in the Balearic Islands so be sure to try some out in one of the quirky resturants.

Eat like a local

There’s a pork delicacy unique to the Balearic islands that is well worth trying. Sobrasada is a kind of cured sausage akin to chorizo, with soft, ground pork seasoned with paprika.
